10:00 – 11:00 – U.S. History (30 week course, broken down into 3 semesters of 10 weeks each) - Fee TBD per student, per semester plus book(The American Pageant and American Spirit Books (there are two volumes in paperback). You can find these books discounted on halfprice.com. The fee per semester is $750.00 per 10 weeks, which will be divided among participants. Payments may be made per semester. Students can take one semester or all sign up for all three.
Classes begin on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 and run to Wednesday, April 23, 2014. The semester will be extended to accommodate any snow days.
U.S. History Class. Curriculum from Colonial Era to Present Day. Textbook and Primary sources utilized. Discussion format utilized. Three 10 week semester class. High interest in American History encouraged.
There will be homework assigned every week. Students will be expected to complete assignments and be ready to participate in class.
At the completion of all three semesters students will have the option to sit for the AP Exam, which is administered each May. This is not a requirement to take the class.
11:15 – 12:15 – Government - The Fee for the 10 weeks is $500.00 which will be divided among participants. TBD per student, per semester plus book.
Government - Basic intro of Constitutional principles.
Instructor for both classes – Don Sattler, retired Cheshire High School History Teacher with a sense of humor!
These classes are geared towards student ages 12 & up. Please inquire if you have a younger student who wishes to take any of the classes.
Both classes will meet for 10 weeks on Wednesday beginning September 18th at the Meeting Place located at 30 Center Street, in Prospect.
First Semester - U.S. History & Government - Class dates are Wednesday, September 18th, 25th, October 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23th, 30th, November 6th, 13th & 20th with the 27th reserved as a make-up day.
Second Semester - U.S. History Only will be offered - Class dates are Wednesday, November 27th, December 4th, 11th, 18th, January 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th, February 5th & 12th with the 19th reserved as a make-up day.
Third Semester - U.S. History & Current Events - Class dates are Wednesday, February 19th, 26th, March 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th, April 2nd, 9th, 16th & 23rd with the 30th reserved as a make-up day.
Fee TBD per student, per class and is non-refundable.
Maximum of 10 - 12 students in each class.
Classes will continue with the Spring Semester and be TBD per student, per class.
